Annapurna Base Camp Route Highlights

The Annapurna Base Camp route will take you through one of the most diverse mixes of landscapes in Nepal.

Some of the major highlights for what Annapurna has to offer are listed below :

  • Enjoy the beautiful sunrise, which is the Poon Hill sunrise from one of the most famous viewpoints in the Himalayas.
  • Walk through the Rhododendron forests. In spring, the forests burst with red and pink blooms, which you will love for photographs.
  • You can enjoy the optional extensions or side experiences like visits to Ghandruk village.
  • Witness the traditional Gurung and Magar culture on the way to Chhomrong and Ghandruk villages. They are very kind-hearted.
  • Watch the Machapuchare Base Camp closely, which is also the gateway to the inner Annapurna Sanctuary.
  • Also enjoy the post-trek activities like Pokhara relaxation (lakeside, Phewa Lake views) and potential add-ons such as a Chitwan safari after you complete your trek.
  • Explore the diverse flora, fauna, and biodiversity in the Annapurna Conservation. You can get to see animals like monkeys, Himalayan Tahr, blue sheep, possible snow leopards, or birds like Lophophorus.
  • Enjoy the different vegetation apart from rhododendrons, like oaks, birches, bamboo, and pines.
  • Soak yourself at Jhinu Danda hot springs, which are famous natural thermal pools beside the river, on your return from the trek.
  • Thrilling crossings over glacial rivers or the Suspension bridges are simply amazing.
  • Love the 360-degree glacier view at ABC, which is the crown jewel of the entire route

Overview

The 14-day Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a moderate Himalayan adventure in Nepal’s Annapurna Conservation Area. ‘

This place looks far and risky, but it has a lot to offer. You will see not just the beauty of green, lush forests, but also explore entirely different destinations.

Starting from the lush rhododendron forests and terraced rice fields, you will explore the charming hospitality in the Gurung villages. The journey at your own pace will lead you to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m / 13,550 ft).

Trekking to Annapurna without rest will make your body and mind hectic. There is no use in simply walking and walking without exploration.

Look around, embrace the beauty, feel the cool breeze of Annapurna, explore people, explore food, explore language and traditions; that is what Annapurna is all about.

You can start your journey from Kathmandu and then Pokhara. Your itinerary then includes a drive to Nayapul or Tikhedhunga.

After that, you have to ascend through Ulleri and Ghorepani. Once you reach here, you can also extend with an optional Poon Hill sunrise if you want to see the panoramic views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Machapuchhre/Fishtail.

Furthermore,  you can explore more through Tadapani, Chhomrong, Bamboo, and Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp. After completion, you descend the same or an alternate route with stops like Jhinu Hot Springs.

You have to cover roughly 70–110 km of trekking with built-in acclimatization.

In this 14-day package, you will be offered teahouse stays, cultural immersion, and breathtaking mountain views, making it ideal for first-time trekkers. You can choose spring or autumn for the best scenery at Annapurna.
